Fun With Google
By SteveGoogle AdSense is pretty funny.
In the below bit about 300, one of the AdSense connections is: “Rock-Hard Gay Muscles: Fastest-Growing Dating Site For Hot, Athletic, Muscular Gay Men!” Though I’m not sure what the “gay muscle” is, at least you can see why that popped up; the entry said the movie was kind of gay, and full of rock-hard abs. Less clear is how it ended up with “Porn Hurts Communities: See data on “secondary effects” of adult businesses, sample laws.” Does gay=porn? Interesting.
It also mentioned videogames, so two entries about videogame addiction popped up. “Video Game Addict: Don’t let your kids get addicted to video games. Try PlayLimit!” and “End Video Game Addiction: Helps parents manage the time kids play video and computer games.” Awesome.
Finally, the last one was especially puzzling, and by puzzling I mean kind of awesome: “Dating Violence: Meet with People like You. Love and right values.” Is this a site for spousal batterers to get together? That would be cosmically cool, but also kind of icky.

Well, this post seems to generate ads about French wireless cameras, cars, alarms, and car alarms. Good luck parsing that.

I have an adblocker, so I don’t see anything. However, I will sit here and think about Hot, Athletic, Muscular Gay Men if that would be helpful.

No. Not helpful at all.

I get yoga too. Possibly because of the word “cosmically”?

Does AdSense take locale into account? I see one for “Free Meditation - Seattle” along with the usual “Buddhism Ringtone” ads.

I get generic things about non-sexual medicine, software and bad colleges…
