Young Fresh Videos
By SteveI shoulda known YouTube would have Young Fresh Fellows videos… not that I actually knew any Young Fresh Fellows videos even existed.
Like their cover of “Picture Book” by the Kinks from This One’s For the Ladies. (In the video, everyone plays drums; on the CD sleeve, everyone is pictured with a drum kit and listed as playing “lead guitar.”)
Here’s “Still There’s Hope,” also from This One’s For the Ladies.
Live recordings of “She Sees Color” and others.

There is only one thing I hate about Google:
They integrated YouTube search results (without any filters whatsoever) into the Google Video search engine. Now I’m stuck with a flood of low image quality videos that contribute in bad ways to pop culture. I’m a decidedly niche guy, by way of resentment of what the mainstream has done to me. (I think it made fun of me, but I can’t recall)

OK, Steve…they’re pretty awesome. I’m definitely picking up This One’s for the Ladies.
It’s appropriate that McCaughey ended up with R.E.M. (my Beatles/Stones) since he looks like the lovechild of Ric Ocasek and Michael Stipe circa 1984.

PS
Actually the Beatles/Stones were my Beatles/Stones. I really didn’t discover the good music of the 80s until they were nearly over.

Wait a minute…I *liked* this music. AM I TURNING INTO STEVE? Do I have to shave my head and wear plaid flannel shirts now?

I’d pay good money to see you shave your head. Maybe pay-per-view?
It’s not Rush-level “awesome technical skillz, d00d,” but good guitar-pop is good guitar-pop. Not too wimpy, not too metal-y, not too polished, not too rough.

It’s time to fill out your “About” page, Steve. This nascent blog isn’t all THAT nascent by now.

“I’d pay good money to see you shave your head.”
Sadly, I would look more like Telly Savalas than Persis Khambatta. On the other hand, she’s dead and I do like lollipops and mysteries*.
*”Lollipops and Mysteries” is the name of my next album.

Your band’s name should be Persis Savalas, or Telly Khambatta. It would be so meta ironic people would love you before “Lollipops and Mysteries” is released.

…and I could do a song called “Telly Khambatta” to the tune of “Hakuna Matata” from The Lion King. Except, like, if the Ramones did it, because that’s the extent of my guitar skillz.
I’d better get MTV on the phone RIGHT NOW.
