Finally, Real Cash Money

By Steve

Today was kind of an important day, I suppose. I got my first paycheck at my new job. Oddly enough, they use the same payroll company, so it looks the same as my previous one. (My last check arrived in March.)

I guess I can say what I’m doing, since I moved to Seattle and all. I’m the new editor of Nintendo Power.

Hah, kidding! Though wouldn’t that be funny? Hey, I just got a Wii, so maybe that would have been some sort of cosmic confluence… thing, or something.

That would have been eerie, as a good friend of mine just left NP.
So when will you actually spill the beans on where you are?

Another cosmic confluence – yesterday I got my final check from The Globe.

Hey, waitaminute, I never got my check from the Globe! Where’s the cosmic influence?

These red herrings never fool me. Steve’s waiting for the Manic Pop Blog season finale for the big reveal.

Email me Sparky. I can give you the contact at The Globe you need to get things moving.

Whoa, they’re finally sending out checks? Cool.

I’m waiting for someone to pay me big money for my exclusive story. OK, not really.

They aren’t advertising that they are sending checks, but if you know who to ask, they will send a portion of the money. It took me less than seven days from opening negotiation to check by certified mail.

I’ve been unable to find a job for the past several months. I’m still freelancing computer repairs and (well, if the chance ever comes again) custom builds. It’s sporadic at best. On the plus side, I’ve got some AMD stock waiting to give me 100% value increase one of these days, even though I’m not able to start IRAs yet.

We all await the big reveal of your new job with great interest. Even if you’re the latest manager at the local grocery store chain, we’ll all be surprised and amazed.

Steve, I apologize in advance for any backlash you might receive.

See, I read your story from the main page without clicking on “more”… I saw the Nintendo Power editor comment, got excited (though admittedly nonplussed), and didn’t read the rest. The immediate company that I keep now believes you really are the new NP editor.

Perhaps *I* am the douche, not you. :)

Hah, that’s awesome. NP had some staff changes, and they keep talking about the Wii “reaching new markets.” So it wouldn’t be totally weird to consider.

I know I’d subscribe if you were the editor. Let us know if you ever start another magazine job. We’d all love to get on board before we miss issues.
